Abid, Glamsham EditorialThe coming Friday will see the release of the John Abraham produced Ayushmann Khurrana starrer, VICKY DONOR, and Vikram Bhatt's Vivek Agnihotri directed HATE STORY. While both the films belong to diverse genres and will appeal to different segments of the audience, the front runner is likely to be the Paoli Dam starrer HATE STORY. Once again HOUSEFULL 2 will prove to be a reasonably strong opponent to the two new releases, even during the third weekend.
Both the releases of last week, Wide Frame Pictures and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures' BITTOO BOSS and Sri Prasad Media's CHHODO KAL KI BAATEIN, could not survive the HOUSEFULL 2 onslaught. Comparatively speaking BITTOO BOSS is a flop while CHHODO KAL KI BAATEIN is one of the biggest disasters of 2012.
Moving on, Sajid Nadiadwala's Sajid Khan directed HOUSEFULL 2 saw a great first week, despite strong opposition from IPL and the two regional films in East Punjab and Nizam. The film still managed to collect 8 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2.75 crores from Ahmedabad, 50 lakhs from Surat, 71.55 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 80.25 lakhs from Rajkot, 15 lakhs from Jamnagar, 85 lakhs from Pune, 35.20 lakhs from Nasik, 22 lakhs from Goa, 11.15 lakhs from Belgaum, 6.20 crore from Delhi city, 75 lakhs from Noida, 61.55 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 47.25 lakhs from Kanpur, 84.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 35 lakhs from Agra, 15 lakhs from Allahabad, 8 lakhs from Aligarh, 1 crore from Gurgaon, 20.55 lakhs from Faridabad, 9 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 12.50 lakhs from Panipat, 32.75 lakhs from Chandigarh, 12 lakhs from Zirakpur, 19 lakhs from Jalandhar, 2.75 lakhs from Amritsar, 12.70 lakhs from Ludhiana, 4.50 lakhs from Bhatinda, 9.25 lakhs from Ambala, 1.65 crore from Calcutta, 3.50 lakhs from Darjeeling, 17.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 9 lakhs from Guwahati, 57.35 lakhs from Nagpur, 40.75 lakhs from Raipur, 1 crore from Indore (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 16.65 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 2 crore from Jaipur, 19 lakhs from Ajmer, 12 lakhs from Bikaner, 27 lakhs from Kota, 22.65 lakhs from Udaipur, 1.15 crore from Hyderabad, 26.25 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 11 lakhs from Latur, 1.35 crore from Bangalore, 12.15 lakhs from Mangalore, 5.65 lakhs from Vijayawada, 8 lakhs from Visakhapatnam 10.50 lakhs from Madras, 1.75 lakhs from Coimbatore and 4 lakhs from Kochi. Netting in excess of 63 crores during the opening week and given the strong second weekend, HOUSEFULL 2 is a clean hit and will surely get to a higher status. The Akshay, John, Riteish and Asin starrer, HOUSEFULL 2, is also a hit in the overseas (likely to be biggest of 2012) grossing and#163;801,500 from UK and $ 1,339,400 from the US, till the second weekend (13-15 April).
Meanwhile Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Vishesh Films' BLOOD MONEY crashed badly in the second week as it collected 10 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2.60 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1 lakh from Surat, 2.50 lakhs from Delhi city, 1 lakh from Ghaziabad, 1 lakh from Kanpur, 1.35 lakhs from Calcutta, 1 lakh from Indore and 1 lakh from Jaipur. Adding another 50 lakhs, BLOOD MONEY has netted 9 crores in two weeks from India, and after accounting for the non-theatrical rights, is coverage to below average fare.
Concluding once again with Sujoy Ghosh's Vidya Balan starrer, KAHAANI, the film has been hit hard by HOUSEFULL 2 but still managed to collect 30 lakhs from Bombay, 6 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2.15 lakhs from Surat, 2.60 lakhs from Baroda, 1.55 lakhs from Rajkot, 11 lakhs from Pune, 15.75 lakhs from Delhi city, 2.25 lakhs from Noida, 2 lakhs from Lucknow, 3.10 lakhs from Gurgaon, 17 lakhs from Calcutta, 1 lakh from Siliguri, 1.15 lakhs from Indore, 1.50 lakhs from Jaipur, 6 lakhs from Hyderabad, 13.35 lakhs from Bangalore, 1 lakh from Madras and 1.20 lakhs from Kochi. Adding another 1.50 crore, KAHAANI has netted a superb 57.50 crores in five weeks from India and is a blockbuster hit. The film is also a big success in the overseas (given the cost and cast) grossing and#163;217,300 from UK and $1,018,000 from the US till the sixth weekend (13-15 April).
